Choo

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 28, 2026

The short version.

  • Choo gives you a private account without asking for your name, email or a password.
  • Your meals and check-ins are backed up to that account, and only you can read them.
  • Your health answers are kept only if you agree, and you can erase them anytime.
  • Usage data is anonymous and never includes how full you felt, your notes or your health answers.
  • We don't sell your data, show ads, or share anything with advertisers.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it from the app.

Who we are

Choo is an iPhone app and this website (together, "Choo"), made by Dominick Won, an individual developer in California ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy go to contact@getchoo.app.

Some of what Choo keeps is health-related, like how full you felt after a meal. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy covers that data in detail, including your rights under Washington's My Health My Data Act.

Your account

When your egg hatches, Choo creates an account for you with a random ID. There's no name, email or password, and nothing in the account identifies you. It lets your progress survive a lost or new phone.

You can choose Back up with Apple (Sign in with Apple) so you can restore your account on a new phone. Choo asks Apple for no name and no email; Apple shares only an identifier that's unique to Choo.

What we keep, and why

WhatWhyWhere
What you set up: the nickname you give Choo to call you (optional), your pet's name and look, your reminder times, your streak goal, the items you own and your petalsTo run the app and keep your progressYour phone and your account
Your meals: when they started and ended, the pacing mode, your pace and the bites you tapped, and how each meal endedTo pace your meals and show your history and insightsYour phone and your account
Your check-ins: hunger before a meal, fullness and satisfaction after, nausea (if asked), and any note you writeTo show how pace and feel go together, and tailor your programYour phone and your account
Your onboarding answers: your usual meal length, where and when you eat, which meals are hardest, your age range and how you heard about ChooTo set your starting pace, reminders and tipsYour phone and your account
Your health answers, only if you agree: how eating quickly affects you, and whether you're eating with a GLP-1 medication or after bariatric surgery (which sets your program track)To build a program that fits youYour phone and your account
Your purchases: whether you have Choo Plus, and its trial and renewal datesTo unlock Choo Plus on every device you useRevenueCat and your account

Your account is stored with our database provider, Supabase, in the United States (Ohio). Each row can be read only by your account. Choo also works offline and backs up later.

Your health answers

Before Choo asks the two health questions, it asks whether you want to answer them. If you skip, nothing from those questions is saved, and you get the general program. If you agree, Choo records when you agreed.

You can erase your health answers anytime in Settings › Eating & your health › Forget my health answers. That clears them on your phone and in your account, and switches you to the general program.

Purchases (RevenueCat)

Choo Plus is sold through Apple. RevenueCat, our subscription service, receives your account's random ID and your purchase history from Apple, so Plus works on all your devices. We also give RevenueCat two onboarding answers, how you heard about Choo and your usual meal length, and whether you've turned usage data off. That lets us see which ways of finding Choo lead to people keeping Plus. We never give RevenueCat your health answers, your check-ins or your notes. We never see your payment details; Apple handles payment.

Usage data (PostHog)

To learn which features help, Choo sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, such as "a meal started" or "a screen was opened", along with your device model, iOS version and app version. They carry a random ID that isn't linked to your account. Your IP address is discarded, and no location is looked up. With them we keep three answers to see which groups find Choo useful: how you heard about Choo, your meal-length range and your age range (none if you're under 18).

Usage data never includes your hunger, fullness, satisfaction or nausea, your notes, or your health answers. You can turn it off in Settings › Privacy › Share anonymous usage data.

Crash reports (Sentry)

If Choo crashes, freezes or runs slowly, it sends a report to Sentry: where in the code it happened, your device model, iOS version and app version. Reports aren't linked to your account, IP addresses aren't stored, and health values are removed before anything leaves your phone.

This website

This site is hosted by Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies, and it doesn't follow you across sites or build a profile of you. Like any web host, Cloudflare briefly processes your IP address to deliver pages and keep the site secure. If you email us, we use your message and address to reply (through Google Workspace).

What we never do

Who helps us run Choo

These providers process data only to run Choo for us: Supabase (your account and backup), RevenueCat (subscriptions), PostHog (anonymous usage data), Sentry (crash reports), Apple (Sign in with Apple and payments), Cloudflare (this website) and Google Workspace (email). We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to someone who takes over Choo, who would be bound by this policy.

How long we keep it

Your account data stays until you delete it. When you delete your account, it's removed from our database right away. Our providers may keep short-lived backup copies for disaster recovery, which roll off on their normal schedule. Anonymous usage data and crash reports are kept for up to a year so we can spot trends. Subscription records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat as needed for billing and the law.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Washington or the EU and UK), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete or move your data, and to appeal our answer. We honor these requests for everyone, and we won't treat you differently for making one. We rely on your consent for health answers, and on running the service you asked for (and our interest in improving it) for the rest.

Choo doesn't respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, because this site doesn't track you in the first place.

Children

Choo isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you're 13 to 17, please use Choo with a parent's OK. If you think a child under 13 is using Choo, email us and we'll delete their data.

Security

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS), your account is protected by per-user access rules, and we collect as little as we can. No system is perfectly secure, so if there's ever a breach, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell you in the app before they apply, and we'll ask again before using your data in a new way.
