Getting started
What is Choo?
Choo is a cozy companion for your meals. Mochi, a baby tortoise, eats with you and paces your bites, so your body has time to notice it's full. After a meal you can check in on how you feel, keep a streak, and grow a little garden.
How do the three pacing modes work?
- Bite Timer is hands-free: Mochi takes a bite every few seconds and you follow along.
- Bite Buddy works the same way, but you tap after each bite and Mochi reacts.
- Meal Timer is just a meal clock with gentle check-ins.
Why do cues sound when my phone is locked?
Vibrations only work while Choo is on screen; that's an iOS limit. With the phone locked, cues play as soft sounds. If you turn on Respect the silent switch in Settings, they arrive as notifications instead.
Your data
Is my data private?
Yes. Your account has no name, email or password, and only you can read your meals and check-ins. Usage data is anonymous and never includes how you felt, your notes or your health answers. Choo has no ads. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I keep my progress on a new phone?
On your current phone, go to Settings › Account & backup and choose Back up with Apple. On the new phone, tap I've used Choo before on the welcome screen and sign in with the same Apple ID.
How do I delete my account and data?
In Choo, go to Settings › Account & backup › Delete account. This erases your pet, meals, check-ins and answers from your phone and our servers, and it can't be undone. It doesn't cancel a subscription (see below).
How do I erase my health answers?
Go to Settings › Eating & your health › Forget my health answers. They're cleared on your phone and in your account, and you switch to the general program.
How do I turn off usage data?
Go to Settings › Privacy and turn off Share anonymous usage data.
Choo Plus
What does Choo Plus add?
Insights on how your pace and your fullness go together, your full history, a custom pace for every meal, Plus shells, plates and places, and a monthly gift. Every meal with Mochi, and your own data, stay free.
Is there a free trial?
Eligible new subscribers get a 7-day free trial. The app shows whether you're eligible before you start, and reminds you 2 days before it ends.
How do I restore Choo Plus?
Go to Settings › Choo Plus › Restore purchases, signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: on your iPhone go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Choo. For refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
Eating comfortably
Is Choo medical advice?
No. Choo offers general guidance, not medical advice. If your doctor, dietitian or surgeon gave you different instructions, follow theirs.
I'm eating with a GLP-1 medication, or after bariatric surgery. Is Choo for me?
Choo has gentler programs for both, with a pause partway through the meal to check in with how you feel. Follow your care team's guidance first, and adjust the pace in Settings if they gave you specific instructions.
What if I'm in recovery from an eating disorder?
Choo is about pace, not restriction. If you're in recovery, check with your care team before using pacing tools. In the US you can reach the National Eating Disorders Association; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists free support.
